The images of Tea and Teaism has always been calm, elegant, traditional and peaceful for decades. This is an experiment on subverting such stereotypes of tea. Redness of black tea reminds me of blood and danger while green tea is related to Japanese culture. The collaboration of the two suggests geisha and her significant red lips which is a reminiscent of uncanniness and horror.

How To Train Your Lion

How To Train Your Lion tells a story about a child who, accompanied by his “Little Lion”, fights against the demon. The film begins by describing lion dance, an Intangible Cultural Heritage, and then portraits how the two overcome hurdles one after the other. During the process, the child learns to grow stronger and plucks up his courage. He eventually finds victory by discovering and attacking the demon’s lethal point.

Home and Mobility

There could be a thousand reasons to leave one’s homeland, with a common wish of “hoping for a better future”. However, things usually go against people’s will. From both a global and local point of view, this “Home and Mobility” screening aims to recollect these stories of diaspora, and the hardships accounted on the way to “settle down”.

The five directors will join a discussion panel with guest speaker to respond to the issue of social and global inequality.

Student Creative Film Showcase

“All About Us” – a creative image education scheme designed for ethnic minority youths in the city has come to its seventh edition. Students continue the spirits of their seniors to transform stories through moving images. The six shorts, from campus bullying to students’ suicides, are realistic tales to illustrate the pains and struggles of current students. Two outstanding works from the “Intensive Shooting Challenge” would also be screened.

48-hour Film Challenge Showcase

As one of the highlight events of Jockey Club ifva Everywhere, “48-hour Film Challenge” recruited eight teams to participate in the boundary-pushing challenge on production. They produced a brand new short film with the theme “Good Era” within just 48 hours. Pink Lin was awarded the winning short film in accordance with the adjudication of professional filmmakers as well as votes by the audience at the ifva Carnival.
