1960s Hong Kong was an era that “Each penny counts”. The Lion Rock Spirit was built up by collective effort bit by bit. Hopefully one day everyone would be rewarded. However, while our next generation is growing up, they no longer work together but only earn their own living now. The Lion Rock Spirit is gradually being forgotten and breaking down.

Artist’s Statement

We learnt from our older generation that the so- called Lion Rock Spirit is “You get out what you put in”. It’s very sad that it is being forgotten. Does the so-called spirit that is needed to be retained actually still mean something to us?
