Migrant workers pursue employment opportunities to improve their livelihoods back home and are willing to bear with ill conditions and diminished rights in their host countries. Longstanding legislation to terminate and deport pregnant workers is commonplace in Asia and though many countries are beginning to annul such practices, income is still the foremost priority for migrant workers. Pregnancy puts their job security at risk. A child is an anchor for the family unit, but not where the stakes are high and anchorage is prohibited.
