Founded by the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1995, ifva has been dedicated to providing a platform for independent filmmakers and media artists from Hong Kong and Asia to showcase their work. Over the past 30 years, ifva has discovered emerging talent through its competition, ifva Festival and programmes, witnessed the development of moving images in Hong Kong and Asia, and expanded the possibilities of moving images, establishing itself as a pioneering force in Asian.
This year marks the 30th edition of the ifva Festival. From 9 to 23 October, the Hong Kong Arts Centre will present a series of finalist screenings and programmes. Featuring outstanding works from across Asia and Hong Kong, include short films, animation, the newly introduced AI Creation, and works by students from various tertiary institutions, showcasing the diverse landscape of moving image creation. In addition, two symposium will be held to explore the latest developments and challenges in visual media, fostering exchange and discussion among creators, industry professionals and audiences.
The 30th ifva Awards Ceremony will be held on 24 October. Awards will be presented across different categories and groups to recognise this year’s outstanding selected works. Filmmakers, industry professionals and jury members will come together to celebrate the achievements of the 30th ifva Competition and continue to foster exchange and the passing on of knowledge within the independent visual media community.
