Ulrich Wegenast, was born in Stuttgart in 1966. Honorary professor at the Film University Babelsberg since 2012. He has been the artistic director of ITFS (Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film) and Raumwelten – Platform for Scenography, Architecture, and Media from 2005-2022. In September 2022 he has been appointed as dean at the faculty of design at the Peter Behrens School of Arts in Düsseldorf. He was a member of the advisory board of the Goethe Institute (Film, TV, Radio) and the jury of the German Short Film Award for eight consecutive years. Wegenast has published a DVD collection on German animated film in cooperation with Absolut Medien, Berlin, and Goethe Institut, Munich, which won the Willi Haas Award for best DVD-edition on German speaking film in 2012. Wegenast has given more than 100 lectures and workshops on animation, experimental film, media art, arts administration and game culture around the globe including Harvard University, University of Toronto, Berlinale Festival, Tallin Black Nights Festival, Annecy Animation Festival, the Bangkok Culture Centre and Ars Electronica in Linz.
