This AR installation metaphorically represents the causes and manifestations of school bullying in East Asia and its influence on the personality of the victims. The interactive mechanism is a simulation of typical routes for East Asians to gain admission to prestigious universities, which aims to make players feel the choicelessness, helplessness, and anxiety of economically disadvantaged parents in East Asia.
Artists' Statement
The college entrance examination is a particularly depressing time in life for students living in East Asia. It feels as if we are confined to a narrow and dark cave, and winning the college entrance test is the only way of escaping. With the desire to be free, we kept climbing in the dark, feeling lonely, anxious, suffocated, and terrified. This artwork explores the relationship between the stress of the college entrance exam and bullying in East Asian schools. It demonstrates how the pressure of this exam progressively erodes teachers' and students' ability of self-control, resulting in campus bullying.

The exploration of significant issues surrounding school violence, bullying, and students' well-being is commendable in this submission. The adept incorporation of AR technology, along with a captivating utilisation of the classroom's physical setting for AR content, enhances the overall impact. The stylistic treatment aligns fittingly with the gravity of the subject matter, presenting a contemporary interpretation reminiscent of a 21st-century take on "Art Brut." (Kingsley Ng)
