My Best Friend

This short film talks about the two contrasting perspectives from a girl who has depression.

Artist's Statement
I chose to create a short film with depression as the theme from an innocent child's perspective to make the work more interesting. How would a child see people with depression? I have discussed with young actor Gai Le Yu on depression and had the discussion recorded. I also used stop motion as a part of my film to emphasise the childlike perspective.
Juror's Comment
The story of growing up is narrated in a childlike tone and manner, a mere three-minute of moving images that depicts layers of pain. The quality of images can be improved but it is a honest piece of work. (Mani Man)
