ak7 shou3 is composed by a violin and a cassette player. The bridge of the violin is attached to a magnetic head, and the cassette tape would become the violin bow. During the performance, every decision from the artist influences the delicate interaction and balance between the violin and tape. This relationship is like the interrelationship between past, present and future, and every decision we make results in a series of events.
Artist’s Statement
What is the meaning of playing a musical instrument? I believe that musical instruments were invented only for leisure at the very beginning. But from classical and Baroque music to modern pop music, we don't have such simple enjoyment anymore. Playing music has become a money making machine. Why can't we just enjoy playing music without such financial agenda? In ak7 shou3, I choose my way to play the violin.
