An Exam Result Decides My Fate?

Tsang Kin-wong

Col / 1' 00"/ No dialogue and subtitles

When youth’s values are determined by their academic results, the failing ones are doomed. Young souls are lost while public no longer cares. Soulless eyes, grainy world, pale crowds remain disturbing imagination for most of the people; this, however, is the reality for youngsters who suffer from emotional illness.

Artist’s Statement

As a DSE student, I feel the pressure from school results almost every day. The never-ending examinations make me numb, and at times I cannot tell why and for whom do I take the exams. Even an optimist like me becomes so pessimistic, I cannot help but wonder how those with a weaker mentality face such enormous pressure. Some may put the blame on students, saying that they are less competitive and mentally weak, and thus commit suicide. But to me, I would rather question with whom exactly are we competing. And who made us suffer from this whole system?
