Even Ants Strive for Survival

Ren Xia

B&W / 20' 31"/ In Cantonese and Mandarin with Chinese and English subtitles

The Government introduces a law to replace citizens’ names with numbers. Ma Yi, who keeps ants as pets at home, suddenly gets arrested for no reason. He is released the next day, without knowing what offence he has committed. From that day onwards, his name is replaced by a number, and he himself has become as trivial as ants.
