Desire of Egg

Wong Choi-fung / Col / 32’00” / In Cantonese with no subtitles
The 9th ifva Awards – Open Category Gold Award

The media who discloses someone’s privacy will be condemned, but how are we going to deal with the matter if someone chooses to expose his or her own privacy? Wong, a young author of 25, was alone on her bed at midnight. In her own little secret place, she tried to record all her private life in front of a digital camera. This was an attempt to challenge the norm of morality. Without reservation, Wong presented her secret life to all of us. What was projected on the screen was apparently her morbid state.

My Dear Flower

Chung Wai-kuen Welby / Col / 09’00” / No dialogue and subtitles
The 9th ifva Awards – Animation Category Gold Award

It’s a story about the stereotype of gender. The author intends to use flowers, buildings and food to signify the relationship of two sexes and the power struggle between them. This work is also characterized by stylistic role modeling. Lines, colours and the movements are in significant layers. Original music with no dialogue provided this small tragedy an appropriate expression.

The 10th ifva Awards – Open Category Gold Award

One day, a glance of my mother‘s life, recorded as picture and sound.

A stone, with its unflawed surface, was carved and polished by beliefs and rules. Yet the core is raw. The more eager you try to smoothen it, the more eager it indulges itself. Its untamed nature is no longer to be restrained.

Life Must Go On

I’m soon to be 18. What am I doing? My life is the same every day, and I see the same people and do similar things. Why am I so ordinary? No matter what, life must go on.
