On a full moon night, a 10-year-old girl in a remote village is lured by Moosina into a cave in the mountains, where she discovers the secret about why the mountain demon always plays dirty tricks on children.
Artist's Statement
This is an adaptation of a novel by Taiwanese magic realism novelist Gan Yao-ming. The Taiwanese legend of Moosina is developed from the perspective of a 10-year-old girl. The story is full of childhood fun and innocence, making a strong contrast with the cruelty in the setting of the animation. In the animation, the imagination and the visual style mixed with folk elements are used to present the subtle relationship between humans and animals as well as the difficult life issues in the original author's text.
Juror's Comment
A beautifully animated film filled with a few sheer poetic moments. It obviously has a much larger scale of production than most of the other works in this category, which raised a concern on whether it upholds the independent spirit of ifva. (Yu Ka Ho)
