Kwong is retired and becomes a full-time volunteer to help the elderly living alone. One day he receives a notice that one of these elders has been found dead
in the house for weeks. To retain the dignity of the deceased, he wants to claim his body as all unclaimed bodies will be buried anonymously at Sandy Ridge Cemetery without leaving a trace in the world.
Artist's Statement
I hope to reflect on issues on elders in Hong Kong through this work. Apart from giving them a decent environment, we actually merely understand they needs deep down. Sickness and death is part of the life journey. We should take them seriously, and leave the world with dignity.
Juror's Comment
The motif is clear, I like how the dialogue between the father and the daughter at the end bring a twist to the characters. I think the director is a bit too ambitious, not only dealing with sickness and death, and intergenerational relationship, there is a short discussion on the lack of support for the aging population, which results in the conflict of styles in dialogues and the plot from time to time.
