A man and a woman suffer from the same terrible disease: they do not fit in. Their world, an office space is disrupted when a pigeon flies in through the window and wreaks havoc. A short film combining elements of dance theatre and the language of cinema.
Artist's Statement
I grew up with a love of silent movies, of Chaplin, of German Expressionism, of comedic, scandalous, expressive shouts that don't necessarily have to come out of the characters’ mouths; it can be physical, it can be musical. The original intention of this short film is to integrate various aesthetic and linguistic systems in the most accurate way. As Mr. Sun Wei, the choreographer of the film, said, it is not how we dance, but why we dance that matters. The centre of my reflection is the "moment to dance", which is the most demanding and crucial thing.
Juror's Comment
Using a clever combination of dance and video, this work expresses the reality of urban life, in which inhabitants live like worker ants. The style is unique and the message is clear and memorable. (Li Ya-mei)
