Mong Kok is often associated with “grassroots” and “gangsters”. During the Umbrella Revolution, traditional media only focused on Admiralty, where students and pan-democrats took the lead, and defamed Mong Kok as
violent and dangerous. This documentary records the people, scenario and happenings in this occupied zone.
Artist’s Statement
When the movement began I spent most of my time in the occupied area of Admiralty. Then I started to visit Mong Kok and found that the atmosphere was completely different from Admiralty. The Mong Kok that I encountered was not the one depicted by media or other students, so I made this documentary to unveil the actual Mong Kok occupied area to the public.
