Cinema 2.0: Acrylic Dreams

Eye of the Dream (2018)

David OReilly (Ireland)

Eye of the Dream is a coproduction of the Berliner Festspiele / Immersion / The New Infinity with the Planetarium Hamburg.

Eye of the Dream is an immersive audio-visual experience for domes and installation settings. The work depicts the creation of the Universe — beginning moments before the Big Bang, it shows the development of life and progresses into our modern world, traveling through billions of years of history in under an hour. It is a ballet choreographed by math, generating beautifully complex and organic structures, with each show being different from the last. The experience is at turns dramatic and meditative, abstract and familiar, chaotic and ordered.

This work evolved from David's interactive work Everything, and draws from a library of objects he created over a 15-year period. The work features original music by German composer Ben Lukas Boysen.
