Chroma 11
Creative Sharing and VR Preview Session
This is an era in which lockdown has become part of our daily routine. Would technology help bridging the frustrating distances among human souls?

Chroma 11 is a Virtual Reality project initiated by Hong Kong director Tsang Tsui-shan, as an extension of her ifva Open Category Silver Award winning piece Ward 11. The work documents the heart-rending last days of dance artist Khek Ah Hock and his partner Wong Thien Pau, also a dance artist. The Chroma 11 project expands the boundaries of moving images with VR technology. Through clips of rearranged memories and volumetric video captured by DepthKit, the team strives to reconstruct a reunion of the parted souls in the form of a duo dance after life.

Chroma 11 is the first work from Hong Kong selected as one of the international projects for the Biennale College Cinema - Virtual Reality under Venice Film Festival. A creative sharing and VR preview session will be held for audiences to know more about the collaborations among art forms and how technology has enlightened the whole creative process of the project.

“Hong Kong Animators, Assemble!” Roundtable
(1) Tea Time Rhapsody – Benny’s Noodles (Milktealogy X Nissin Demae Itcho) Tsui Brothers X Mak Siu-fung’s work

Hong Kong animation has attracted much attention in the recent decade. Besides an highly anticipated animation feature project, indie shorts that deal with different subject matters, emerging collaborations with commercial and music sectors, many outstanding works have also gained their applause on various international stages. The industry is blooming and promising: funds and subsidies are more open to animation works; multiple higher education institutes contribute to nurturing up-and-coming animators; number of productions has increased significantly, across genres and motifs; production crews have grown to become more structured. One can’t help but to expect one day in the near future Hong Kong animation could become a genre of one’s own.

“Hong Kong Animators, Assemble!” Roundtable invites Hong Kong animators from different generations to gather for this one-of-a-kind panel discussion. By revisiting the milestones of the industry, they will look into the spectrum of Hong Kong animation and attempt to shed light on the possibile creative patterns and development in the near future, and pave the boulevard for Hong Kong animation.
