The 26th ifva Awardee Short Film Selection

After supporting local features in cinemas, it’s time to enjoy local short films at your own cosy space!

ifva will once again, present two online screenings, which features the 26th ifva open category Gold awardee Kwok Zune and Silver awardee Chan Kam-hei’s award-winning works and their previous works respectively. Gold award work “Night is Young” was awarded Best Live Action Short Film at the 57th Golden Horse Award, and the rest is history. Kwok’s graduation work “Homecoming” tells the story of how the retirement plan of a Pilipino house maid, who has been separated from her family for two decades, is ruined by unexpected happenings, and how she strives to find a way out.

Chan Kam-hei’s Silver award short film “This Is Not The End” is about a boy named Wing-luk finds his emotional outlet in hurdle races. Born with limitations, can he take the leap and overcome his difficult life? It is still hard for gender minorities to live a pleasant life in this city. Chan’s “Conditioned” tells the story of a girl who was born in a walled village is forced to wear short hair and dress like a man, just to meet the gender expectations of twisted adults, with her thoughts left unsaid and untold. There is never a standard route to reach our destination, with these four short films, may we be enlightened and continue with our journey.
