Floating Paper

Junya Kataoka (Japan)

A paper slowly descends in a transparent box. This work operates without any special mechanism like a blower or a magnet, and the paper falls solely because of gravity. Since the box is of almost the same size as the A4 paper, the paper descends slowly with a familiar yet poetic movement.

Artist’s Statement

In this work, I use general A4 size paper. I make this work from my personal discoveries through observing everyday objects. I paid attention to the characteristics and mechanisms they possess, which deviate from their original functions. Poetic physical phenomenon lurking in our daily appears in my work.
