Artist’s Statement

Halpe paupera is a unique subspecies found in Hong Kong. It was named after its obscure appearance, symbolising “poverty and misery”. There are a number of people living in Hong Kong who are similar to Halpe paupera, unassuming and quiet. They prefer to remain silent and become an accomplice of the tragedy. Yet, what is the reason behind that let them make this choice? As bystanders, is there any way for them to take a step forward? After all, remaining silent is the cause of another social tragedy.
