“The 23rd ifva Awards Open Category Finalist Showcase” will be screened on 9 Mar, 7:45pm (Programme 1) and 10 Mar, 7:45pm (Programme 2). The 10 local works depict stories of those marginalised, those oppressed, those aspiring for future, those flying high and diving deep for their own beliefs… But no matter how much we yearn for the outside world, we still need to face our inner self, with utmost honesty.

Media Art Exhibition “CINEMA 2.0: Dark Mirrors” discusses cinema as a medium of faces, the difference faces which we encounter or never thought of which we see ourselves as much as we see others. Works from Heather Dewey-Hagborg (USA), Shinseungback Kimyonghun (South Korea) and Acci Baba (Japan) reflect the different faces beyond cinema. Jockey Club ifva Everywhere – People Cinema: Little Cheung

Hong Kong’s grassroots often take centre stage in Fruit Chan’s films, from the “1997 Trilogy” to The Midnight After. Urban spaces, inhabited by these people, appears as if a character in his films. The latest edition of People Cinema, which always bring alternative cinematic experiences in public spaces, will be screening Fruit Chan’s Little Cheung in Tamar Park. The 23rd ifva Festival announcement

The 23rd ifva Festival will soon start in 6 March (Tue). Besides the finalist showcase of outstanding works from all five categories of ifva Awards, this year the festival will start with media art exhibition “CINEMA 2.0: Dark Mirrors”, together with Media Art category finalists exhibition. The three jurors, Liu Jian, Tom Lin, and Fruit Chan will share with audience their works and experiences through master class and screenings. A series of free programmes will also be screened during the festival, including “All About Us 2017/18″ Student Creative Film Showcase, “48 Hour Film Challenge” Showcase and etc.
