VIII. TIMELINE
I. BASIC RULES & REGULATIONS
- There are FIVE Categories in The 18th ifva Awards including the Open Category, Youth Category, Animation Category, Interactive Media Category and the Asian New Force Category.
- To ensure fairness, jurors and staff of “The 18th ifva” are not allowed to take part in the competition.
- Both film and video under the same category will compete together.
- Both “completed works” and “proposals” will compete together in the Interactive Media Category.
- There is no restriction on the number of Entries, but each Entry can only be entered for one category.
- Works that have been entered, or have won prizes in other contests may also be entered.
- Works that have been submitted to previous ifva Awards will not be accepted.
- Once the screener has been submitted, it cannot be exchanged after the submission deadline, 22nd October 2012.
- Once the application is submitted, no entrant is allowed to withdraw without the Organizer’s written permission.
- Winning Entries are assessed and decided by the Jury Panel of the respective category.
- The Organiser and Jury Panel reserve the right to disqualify any Entry that does not comply with the Rules and Regulations of this competition. The decisions of the Organiser and Jury Panel shall be final and conclusive.
- The submission to ifva implies acceptance of the Details and Regulations for ifva Entrants. The English text of the Details and Regulations is the authentic and binding version. The Organiser has the sole and final decision in relation to issues which have not been covered in the ifva Details and Regulations, the Entry Form and the Work Submission Form. The Organiser reserves the right to revise such regulations and forms at any time.
II. ENTRANT ELIGIBILITIES
- Open CategoryEntrants must be at the age of 18 or above, permanent Hong Kong residents (the persons hold the Hong Kong permanent identity card and have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region). If the Entry has more than one entrant, at least one of the joint-entrants must be at the age of 18 or above, and at least half of the joint-entrants must be permanent Hong Kong residents.
- Youth CategoryEntrants must be at the age of 17 or below, permanent Hong Kong residents (the persons aged under 18 before 22nd October 2012, who hold the Hong Kong permanent identity card and have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region). If the Entry has more than one entrant, all joint-entrants must be at the age of 17 or below, and at least half of them must be permanent Hong Kong residents.
- Animation CategoryEntries must be animation works. Entrants have no age restriction. Entrants must be permanent Hong Kong residents (the persons hold the Hong Kong permanent identity card and have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region). If the Entry has more than one entrant, at least half of the joint-entrants must be permanent Hong Kong residents.
- Interactive Media CategoryEntries must be interactive media works. Entrants have no age restriction. Entrants must be permanent Hong Kong residents (the persons hold the Hong Kong permanent identity card and have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region). If the Entry has more than one entrant, at least half of the joint-entrants must be permanent Hong Kong residents.
- Asian New Force CategoryEntrants must be residents of Asian countries / regions having rights of abode (excluding Hong Kong permanent residents). If the Entry has more than one entrant, at least half of the joint-entrants must be residents of Asian countries having rights of abode. Individual particulars of each entrant must be submitted along with the Entry Form.

Note: In case of any dispute concerning the definition of the above categories, the interpretation of the Organiser shall be final and conclusive.
III. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic Requirements
a. Entries must be produced in or after 1 January 2011. Works that have been updated after the said date are also eligible.
b. The maximum running time of Entries (except those of Interactive Media Category) is 30 minutes (including end credits).
2. Youth Category
a. There is no restriction on shooting format for either film or video Entries.
b. Any type of film (including but not limited to fiction, animation, documentary, experimental, except commercials) on films or video as its screening format can be submitted to the competition.
c. If Cantonese is not the main language of the Entry, Chinese/English subtitles or a Chinese/English dialogue script must be submitted along with the Entry.
3. Open Category, Animation Category, Asian New Force Category
a. There is no restriction on shooting format for either film or video Entries.
b. Any type of film (including but not limited to fiction, animation, documentary, experimental, except commercials) on films or video as its screening format can be submitted to the competition.
c. The Entry must have English subtitles.
4. Interactive Media Category
a. Entrants can submit either a “Completed Work” or a “Proposal”.
b. Interactive Media works can be in all forms and formats and should allow user’s participation.

Note:
1. Interactive Media Category
On top of the cash prizes, the Pure Art Foundation will offer the Gold award winner of Interactive Media Category a chance to attend the ARS Electronica (in Austria, September 2013, www.aec.at), the most established media arts festival in the world. One round-trip air ticket (economic class) and five nights’ hotel for the festival visit will be sponsored by the organiser.
2. Animation Category
Gold award winner of Animation Category will have a chance to attend the Annecy International Animation Festival (in France, early June 2013, www.annecy.org). One round-trip air ticket (economic class) and five nights’ hotel for the festival visit will be sponsored by the organiser.
3. Asian New Force Category
Ten finalists will receive 3-night accommodation and a subsidy of airfare to visit Hong Kong and attend the 18th ifva Festival (including cultural exchange activities and the Award Presentation Ceremony) in March 2013.
4. In the event of more than one winner sharing an award, the Organiser reserves the right to redistribute the cash prizesaccording to the original ratio among specific awards assigned to the category. Each award must not exceed its ceiling amount.
5. The Jury Panel reserves the right to withhold an award if they find none of the Entry merits a particular award and prize.
V. COPYRIGHT & SPONSORSHIP/FUNDING
1. Copyright
a. All Entrants must be the sole and exclusive owner of the copyright in the Entry(ies). Where there is more than one Entrant to an Entry, all of the Entrants must be exclusive owners of the copyright in the Entry. Entries should not infringe any rights of any third party.
b. All Entrants should only use third party’s music excerpts or film/video segments in the Entry with the prior written consent of the relevant third party. Entrants must acknowledge any authorized use of music excerpts or film/video segments in the Entry in accordance with the relevant copyright laws. The Organiser shall not be responsible whether directly or indirectly for any liability arising whatsoever or howsoever from any violation of any copyright laws. Entrants agree and undertake to accept and be responsible for all such liability arising therefrom.

2. Sponsorship/Funding
a. If the Entry is sponsored/funded by any Organisation(s) / college(s), nature and details of the sponsorship/funding must be stated in the Work Submission Form.
b. Entrants must ensure that the sponsor(s) will not interfere with their creativity and production.

Use the account to login the online application system. Fill in all relevant particulars and confirm the submission of application.
Note: You may enter one or multiple works by using ONE user account. You can add more entries on the page “My Entry(ies) Summary” in the online application system. Upon completion of your Online Application form, you have to click “Submit All Entry(ies)” to confirm your application. Once you click the button, you confirm to submit ALL applications and you are not allowed to go back and edit your entries.
3. Work Submission:
Follow the instruction on the confirmation e-mail. You have to submit works and related documents on or before 22nd October 2012 6:00pm (Hong Kong Time):

2. Confirm submission:
Register at the http://www.ifva.com/2012/reelport on or before the submission deadline (22nd October 2012). Fill in the required information and confirm the submission.
3. Subtitles
The Entry must contain English subtitles
Note:
- In the event the Entry is selected for presentation in “The 18th ifva Festival”, the presentation copy should be sent to the ifva office in January 2013.
- All screeners and finalist screening copies will not be returned.
- Entrants must submit valid identification documents (e.g. residence card or passport copy) for eligibility verification upon request. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry if the entrant fails to provide such document.
VII. ENTRY PRESENTATION & ARCHIVE
1. For Entries which are to be awarded or selected for presentation in “The 18th ifva Festival”, the Organiser has the right to:

The ten finalist works of the Interactive Media Category(both “completed works” and “proposals”) will be set-up together for exhibition during “The 18th ifva Festival” at Pao Galleries, Hong Kong Arts Centre in mid-March 2013 The exhibiting scale of the entry may need to be adjusted due to the spacing availability of the exhibition venue.
3. Any use of the Entries for any commercial purposes will be subject to the conclusion of a separate agreement between the Organiser and the copyright owner of the particular Entry.
4. The Organiser has the final decision on presentation arrangement.
5. For Entries which are to be awarded, unless the Entrant objects in writing, the Entrant agrees and acknowledges that Hong Kong Film Archive has the perpetual right to keep one copy of each winning Entry for archival or research purposes, or for the purposes of non-profit making presentations in the performing venues of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The Entrant of the same agrees and acknowledges that the Organiser has the perpetual right to provide the contact details of the particular Entrant to Hong Kong Film Archive for the said archival arrangement.
6. Unless the Entrant objects in writing, the Organiser has the perpetual right to keep one copy of each Entry for educational, archival and research purposes.

一、基本规则
- 「第十八届ifva独立短片及影像媒体比赛」设公开组、青少年组、动画组、互动媒体组及亚洲新力量组。
- 所有「第十八届ifva独立短片及影像媒体节」的员工或评审均不得参加比赛，以示公允。
- 同一组别的短片及录像作品将会一并比赛。
- 互动媒体组的「已完成之作品」及「计划书」将一并比赛。
- 每位参赛者提交的作品数目不限，但每个作品只可参加一个组别。
- 曾参加其他比赛或曾于其他比赛中得奖的作品也可递交。
- 曾参加历届ifva比赛的作品不可再次递交。
- 于截止交件后，即2012年10月22日(星期一)，便不得更换所提交参赛作品之版本，以示公允。
- 一经递交报名及作品，将不得退出比赛。
- 各组别之作品由该组之评审团评选，评选结果及名次皆由评审团决定。
- 主办机构及评审团有权取消违例作品之参赛资格。
- 参赛者递交作品后，即表示接受ifva参赛详情及规则。参赛详情及规则以英文本为准。主办机构有唯一及最终决定权处理一切没有在ifva参赛详情及规则、报名表格及交件表格内提及之争议。主办机构保留在不时修订该等规则及表格之权利。
二、参赛资格
- 公开组参赛者须为年龄为十八岁或以上的香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份证，享有香港特别行政区居留权）。倘参赛作品由多人合力创作，所有参赛者中，至少一人须为十八岁或以上，且半数或以上为香港永久居民。
- 青少年组参赛者须为年龄为十七岁或以下的香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份证，享有香港特别行政区居留权，并于2012年10月22日或之前未满十八岁者）。倘参赛作品由多人合力创作，所有参赛者必须为十七岁或以下，且半数或以上为香港永久居民。
- 动画组参赛作品须为动画作品。参赛者年龄不限，须为香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份证，享有香港特别行政区居留权）。倘参赛作品由多人合力创作，所有参赛者中，须有半数或以上为香港永久居民。
- 互动媒体组参赛作品须为互动媒体作品。参赛者年龄不限，须为香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份证，享有香港特别行政区居留权）。倘参赛作品由多人合力创作，所有参赛者中，须有半数或以上为香港永久居民。
- 亚洲新力量组参赛者须为亚洲国家及地区（香港除外）之居民，即持有亚洲国家及地区（香港除外）的居留权及护照。倘参赛作品由多人合作创作，有半数或以上参赛者为亚洲国家及地区之居民。

阿富汗﹑亚美尼亚﹑亚塞拜疆﹑巴林﹑孟加拉﹑不丹﹑汶莱﹑柬埔寨﹑中国﹑东帝汶﹑格鲁吉亚﹑印度﹑印度尼西亚﹑伊朗﹑伊拉克﹑以色列﹑日本﹑约旦﹑哈萨克斯坦﹑北韩﹑科威特﹑吉尔吉斯坦﹑老挝﹑黎巴嫩﹑马来西亚﹑马尔代夫﹑蒙古﹑缅甸﹑尼泊尔﹑阿曼﹑巴勒斯坦﹑巴基斯坦﹑菲律宾﹑卡塔尔﹑俄罗斯﹑沙特亚拉伯﹑星加坡﹑斯里兰卡﹑南韩﹑叙利亚﹑台湾﹑塔吉克斯坦﹑泰国﹑土耳其﹑土库曼﹑阿拉联合酋长国﹑乌兹别克﹑越南﹑也门。
注：对于上述组别的参赛资格之介定及演译，主办机构有唯一及最终决定权处理一切争议。
三、参赛作品之要求
- 基本要求
- 参赛作品须为2011年1月1日或以后完成 或 重新制作的作品。
- 每个参赛作品长度（除互动媒体组外）不可超过30分钟（包括片尾字幕）。
- 青少年组
- 参赛作品的摄制之规格不限
- 参赛作品题材及种类不限（包括剧情片、动画、纪录片、实验片等，商业片除外）。
- 若参赛作品主要使用广东话以外之语言，参赛者必须在其作品加上中文或英文字幕或在提交作品时附加中文或英文对白本一份。
- 公开组、动画组、亚洲新力量组
- 参赛作品的摄制之规格不限
- 参赛作品题材及种类不限（包括剧情片、动画、纪录片、实验片等，商业片除外）。
- 参赛者必须在其作品加上英文字幕。
- 互动媒体组
- 参赛者可提交「已完成之作品」或「计划书」。
- 参赛作品形式不限，但必需与观赏者之间产生互动的关系。

备注：
1. 互动媒体组
除奖金之外，Pure Art Foundation更赞助金奖得主于2013年9月初，亲身前往奥地利ARS Electronica电子艺术节 (www.aec.at) 观摩各地电子艺术作品。大会将提供来回该影展的之经济客位机票一张及五晚住宿。
2. 动画组
金奬得主有机会于 2013 年 6 月初，亲身前往法国安钖国际动画节 (www.annecy.org) 观摩各地动画。大会将提供来回该影展的之经济客位机票一张及五晚住宿。
3. 亚洲新力量组
十名入围者可获邀亲身来港出席 2013 年 3 月举行的「第十八届 ifva 独立短片及影像媒体节」之交流活动及颁奖礼，主办机构将提供三晚住宿及机票资助。
4. 倘有超过已定数目之参赛作品于同一奖项中获奖，主办机构有权把奖金数额按照该组别奖项次奖金比例重新分配。所有得奖者之奖金将不超逾原本设定之数额，奖品则由评审商议并决定由哪一名得奖者获取。
5. 倘评审团认为某一组别参赛作品之质素水平不达得奖之要求，评审团有权不颁发有关奖项及奖金。
五、有关版权及赞助／资助
- 版权
- 参赛者必须是参赛作品之版权的唯一及独家拥有人。如参赛作品之版权拥有人多于一人，则所有参赛者必须是该等版权的独有的拥有人。参赛作品不应侵犯任何第三者之任何权利。
- 参赛者只应该在获得有关第三者事先书面同意的情况下于参赛作品中采用第三者之音乐、图像，录像或影片片段。如有任何获授权采用之音乐、录像或影片片段者，须根据有关版权法律于参赛作品中注明。主办机构将不会直接或间接为任何或以任何方式而由任何因抵触任何版权法例而引起的责任负责。参赛者同意及承诺会接受及为所有该等由此而起的责任负责。
- 有关版权条例（第528章）详情，请浏览www.legislation.gov.hk。
- 赞助／资助
- 若参赛作品获任何机构或学院的赞助或资助，须在报名表格上清楚注明赞助或资助之详情。
- 参赛者必须确保赞助商不会干预其创作。

- 上载作品：于www.reelport.com上载参赛作品及填写个人及作品资料
- 确认参赛：于截止日期（2012年10月22日）前登入http://www.ifva.com/2012/reelport，并填妥基本资料并确定递交。
- 字幕:参赛作品必须加上英文字幕。
注：
- 若参赛作品被选为「第十八届ifva独立短片及影像媒体节」入围作品，参赛者必须于2013年1月将入围作品的展出版本递交到ifva办公室。
- 参赛者递交之DVD之参赛版本以及入围的参赛者的放映版本将不获发还。
- 大会有权要求参赛者提供身份证明文件（如居民身份证或护照副本）以兹证明其参赛资格。如参赛者未能提供有效的证明文件，大会有权取消其参赛资格。
七、作品放映、展出及收藏
1. 若参赛作品得奖或被选为「第十八届ifva独立短片及影像媒体节」入围作品，主办机构有权：

2. 互动媒体组十名入围作品（包括「已完成之作品」及「计划书」）将于2013年3月中「第十八届ifva独立短片及影像媒体节」举行期间，于香港艺术中心包氏画廊展出。作品展出之规模大小或需因应展览场地所能提供之空间而作出修改，并配合其他一并展出的入围作品。主办单位将尽力协助作品展出及提供基本技术支援，唯资源有限，参赛者需自备作品所需之器材。
3. 在对任何参赛作品作任何商业用途前，主办机构必须与有关版权拥有人达成另一协议。
4. 有关作品放映及展出之安排，主办机构保留最终决定权。
5. 除非参赛者以书面提出反对，参赛者同意及确认香港电影资料馆有永久的权利收藏得奖作品的副本，在馆内作保存及研究，或于康乐及文化事务署的场馆作非牟利展出之用。参赛者同意及授权主办机构将其联络资料交予香港资料馆作上述有关收藏安排。
6. 除非参赛者以书面提出反对，主办机构有永久的权利保存作品的副本作教育、保存及研究用途。

一、基本規則
- 「第十八屆ifva獨立短片及影像媒體比賽」設公開組、青少年組、動畫組、互動媒體組及亞洲新力量組。
- 所有「第十八屆ifva獨立短片及影像媒體節」的員工或評審均不得參加比賽，以示公允。
- 同一組別的短片及錄像作品將會一併比賽。
- 互動媒體組的「已完成之作品」及「計劃書」將一併比賽。
- 每位參賽者提交的作品數目不限，但每個作品只可參加一個組別。
- 曾參加其他比賽或曾於其他比賽中得獎的作品也可遞交。
- 曾參加歷屆ifva比賽的作品不可再次遞交。
- 於截止交件後，即2012年10月22日(星期一)，便不得更換所提交參賽作品之版本，以示公允。
- 一經遞交報名及作品，將不得退出比賽。
- 各組別之作品由該組之評審團評選，評選結果及名次皆由評審團決定。
- 主辦機構及評審團有權取消違例作品之參賽資格。
- 參賽者遞交作品後，即表示接受ifva參賽詳情及規則。參賽詳情及規則以英文本為準。主辦機構有唯一及最終決定權處理一切沒有在ifva參賽詳情及規則、報名表格及交件表格內提及之爭議。主辦機構保留在不時修訂該等規則及表格之權利。
二、參賽資格
- 公開組
參賽者須為年齡為十八歲或以上的香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份證，享有香港特別行政區居留權）。倘參賽作品由多人合力創作，所有參賽者中，至少一人須為十八歲或以上，且半數或以上為香港永久居民。 - 青少年組
參賽者須為年齡為十七歲或以下的香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份證，享有香港特別行政區居留權，並於2012年10月22日或之前未滿十八歲者）。倘參賽作品由多人合力創作，所有參賽者必須為十七歲或以下，且半數或以上為香港永久居民。 - 動畫組
參賽作品須為動畫作品。參賽者年齡不限，須為香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份證，享有香港特別行政區居留權）。倘參賽作品由多人合力創作，所有參賽者中，須有半數或以上為香港永久居民。 - 互動媒體組
參賽作品須為互動媒體作品。參賽者年齡不限，須為香港永久居民（即持有香港永久性居民身份證，享有香港特別行政區居留權）。倘參賽作品由多人合力創作，所有參賽者中，須有半數或以上為香港永久居民。 - 亞洲新力量組
參賽者須為亞洲國家及地區（香港除外）之居民，即持有亞洲國家及地區（香港除外）的居留權及護照。倘參賽作品由多人合作創作，有半數或以上參賽者為亞洲國家及地區之居民。

阿富汗﹑亞美尼亞﹑亞塞拜疆﹑巴林﹑孟加拉﹑不丹﹑汶萊﹑柬埔寨﹑中國﹑東帝汶﹑格魯吉亞﹑印度﹑印度尼西亞﹑伊朗﹑伊拉克﹑以色列﹑日本﹑約旦﹑哈薩克斯坦﹑北韓﹑科威特﹑吉爾吉斯坦﹑老撾﹑黎巴嫩﹑馬來西亞﹑馬爾代夫﹑蒙古﹑緬甸﹑尼泊爾﹑阿曼﹑巴勒斯坦﹑巴基斯坦﹑菲律賓﹑卡塔爾﹑俄羅斯﹑沙特亞拉伯﹑星加坡﹑斯里蘭卡﹑南韓﹑敘利亞﹑台灣﹑塔吉克斯坦﹑泰國﹑土耳其﹑土庫曼﹑阿拉聯合酋長國﹑烏茲別克﹑越南﹑也門。
註：對於上述組別的參賽資格之介定及演譯，主辦機構有唯一及最終決定權處理一切爭議。
三、參賽作品之要求
- 基本要求
- 參賽作品須為2011年1月1日或以後完成 或 重新製作的作品。
- 每個參賽作品長度（除互動媒體組外）不可超過30分鐘（包括片尾字幕）。
- 青少年組
- 參賽作品的攝製之規格不限
- 參賽作品題材及種類不限（包括劇情片、動畫、紀錄片、實驗片等，商業片除外）。
- 若參賽作品主要使用廣東話以外之語言，參賽者必須在其作品加上中文或英文字幕或在提交作品時附加中文或英文對白本一份。
- 公開組、動畫組、亞洲新力量組
- 參賽作品的攝製之規格不限
- 參賽作品題材及種類不限（包括劇情片、動畫、紀錄片、實驗片等，商業片除外）。
- 參賽者必須在其作品加上英文字幕。
- 互動媒體組
- 參賽者可提交「已完成之作品」或「計劃書」。
- 參賽作品形式不限，但必需與觀賞者之間產生互動的關係。

1. 互動媒體組
除獎金之外，Pure Art Foundation更贊助金獎得主於2013年9月初，親身前往奧地利ARS Electronica電子藝術節 (www.aec.at) 觀摩各地電子藝術作品。大會將提供來回該影展的之經濟客位機票一張及五晚住宿。
2. 動畫組
金奬得主有機會於 2013 年 6 月初，親身前往法國安鍚國際動畫節 (www.annecy.org) 觀摩各地動畫。大會將提供來回該影展的之經濟客位機票一張及五晚住宿。
3. 亞洲新力量組
十名入圍者可獲邀親身來港出席 2013 年 3 月舉行的「第十八屆 ifva 獨立短片及影像媒體節」之交流活動及頒獎禮，主辦機構將提供三晚住宿及機票資助。
4. 倘有超過已定數目之參賽作品於同一獎項中獲獎，主辦機構有權把獎金數額按照該組別獎項次獎金比例重新分配。所有得獎者之獎金將不超逾原本設定之數額，獎品則由評審商議並決定由哪一名得獎者獲取。
5. 倘評審團認為某一組別參賽作品之質素水平不達得獎之要求，評審團有權不頒發有關獎項及獎金。
五、有關版權及贊助／資助
- 版權
- 參賽者必須是參賽作品之版權的唯一及獨家擁有人。如參賽作品之版權擁有人多於一人，則所有參賽者必須是該等版權的獨有的擁有人。參賽作品不應侵犯任何第三者之任何權利。
- 參賽者只應該在獲得有關第三者事先書面同意的情況下於參賽作品中採用第三者之音樂、圖像，錄像或影片片段。如有任何獲授權採用之音樂、錄像或影片片段者，須根據有關版權法律於參賽作品中註明。主辦機構將不會直接或間接為任何或以任何方式而由任何因抵觸任何版權法例而引起的責任負責。參賽者同意及承諾會接受及為所有該等由此而起的責任負責。

- 贊助／資助
- 若參賽作品獲任何機構或學院的贊助或資助，須在報名表格上清楚註明贊助或資助之詳情。
- 參賽者必須確保贊助商不會干預其創作。
