Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Awards (ifva)

Hong Kong Arts Centre (the “Organiser”) has been hosting the annual Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards (ifva) since 1995. ifva aims to promote innovative media creation, such as short film, video and interactive media, among all walks of life. The Organiser also organises pre- and post- award activities to enhance public awareness of media creation.

With the track record of past years, ifva has proved to be the cradle of local creative talents. Committed to the mission of developing and nurturing indie new force, ifva seeks to break new grounds and pushes the limit of innovation and creativity. The Organiser believes in the power of originality and the role ifva plays in promoting media interaction and creativity development.

Starting from the year 2002, ifva has opened up a section – “Asian New Force”– for Asian countries / regions, to discover and cultivate new generations of film / video makers and progress interactions among creative media talents in the Asian regions ifva aspires to nurture and encourage exchanges among all Asian independent practitioners through presentation and discussion.

Under the context of audio-visual media that embraces idea, frame, vision and audio, ifva has proved to be iNNVATIVE, fRESH, vIBRANT and aVENTUROUS. ifva encourages a creative use of media which it uses as a tool for dialogue and expression to break through typical forms of concept, narrative or production mode in creating moving images.
